May 3, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

May 3, 2016

It looks like most of us dodged rain for most of the day, and we should stay mainly dry through early afternoon Wednesday. The big news is the temperature change that’s coming! Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Saturday!

Late this afternoon, temperatures were definitely cooler than yesterday, by quite a bit. Highs were in the low 70’s across East Tennessee, with low to mid 60’s across most of the higher terrain on this Tuesday. A cold front from Canada is coming in, and that will cause even cooler weather for later this week. Here’s the outlook:

Tonight-A few showers lingering, but mostly dry. Partly cloudy, low 48.

Wednesday-Partly sunny, a few showers possible or a thunderstorm late. High 65.

Wednesday night-Showers and thunderstorms likely. Low 44.

Thursday-Partly to mostly cloudy, with a few showers. High 57.

Friday-Partly to mostly sunny, a small chance of rain. High 64.

Saturday-Partly to mostly sunny. High 73.

The cold front that brought storms yesterday is just to our east, and will continue heading away from us in the coming days. A new cold front is located in Minnesota and North Dakota, and that’s going to drop in here by Thursday.  That will cause our chances of rain and storms to go up, mainly for Wednesday night.

Behind the front, we’ll still have a chance for a few rain showers. Thursday will be a cloudy and cool day, with a few rays of sunshine from time to time. Friday and Saturday should be mostly dry, but getting warmer. Highs will get up into the mid 60’s on Friday and into the low 70’s on Saturday.

A new cold front approaches on Sunday, and that will bring another decent chance of showers and storms to finish the weekend.

That’s all for now! I’ll have more details on the weekend and possible Sunday storms in tomorrow’s forecast. Have a great Wednesday!
