April 22, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

April 22, 2016

The rains have come, making it a quite cool Friday! We’ll have a few rain showers tonight, but then we get a few dry days coming up. Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Tuesday!

There is a cold front just to our west, entering Eastern Kentucky and extending between Nashville and Cookeville. Just ahead of that is a line of rain showers. That’s what we’ll be watching this evening, but after that gets through, most of the rain will be gone, with only a small chance of rain tomorrow.

Today, the rain cooled air kept us all below 70, with some folks in the North Carolina mountains not reaching 60 by around 5pm. With dry weather comes warmth, and here’s the outlook for more on that:

Tonight-Mostly cloudy, a few mainly evening rain showers. Low 52.

Saturday-Maybe a stray morning rains shower, becoming partly cloudy by afternoon. high 72.

Saturday night-Partly cloudy and cooler. Lows near 40.

Sunday-Mostly sunny. Highs near 80.

Monday-Mostly sunny. High 81.

Tuesday-Partly cloudy, with a small chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. High 82.

That cold front to our west will push rain through this evening before it gets through here after midnight. There will be some extra clouds and maybe a rain shower lingering around early Saturday, but the weather should start getting better as we go into the afternoon.

We’ll be completely dry thanks to high pressure to finish the weekend Sunday, and also to start the work week on Monday. In fact, most of Tuesday should be dry, but as a new cold front approaches, we might see a stray shower or storm late in the day.

As far as the extended forecast goes, we could see scattered showers on Wednesday, then a better chance of rain and possible thunderstorms as we look into Thursday.

I’ll have more on next week’s forecast on Sunday evening. Meanwhile, get out and enjoy the weekend!
