April 10, 2016 #TriCitiesWx Forecast

April 10, 2016

April showers are coming. In fact, a few light rain showers will happen as soon as tonight, and again on Tuesday. After that, Spring sunshine returns, and maybe for a while! Welcome to the Tri-Cities Weather Blog forecast for tonight through Friday!

There are a few scattered light rain showers around the area right now, with more in southern Kentucky that are heading our way. A few rain showers are possible tomorrow, before a cold front brings better chances of rain tomorrow night and Tuesday. Here’s the outlook:

Tonight-Mostly cloudy, a few light rain showers. Lows near 40.

Monday-Partly cloudy, a small chance of rain. High 74.

Monday night-Rain likely, possible thunderstorms. Low 52.

Tuesday-Rain likely, mainly early, with a thunderstorm possible mainly early in the day. Highs early in the day around 58.

Wednesday-Partly cloudy. High 68.

Thursday-Mostly sunny. High 71.

Friday-Partly to mostly sunny. High 72.

Thankfully, there isn’t too much going on tonight or for much of tomorrow to worry about. There will be a few light rain showers tonight, but that’s about it. Much of Monday will be rain free it appears, at least until tomorrow night.

A cold front that is currently extending from Iowa to Colorado will be making its way toward us tomorrow, then through our area on Tuesday morning. So look for heavier rain to be possible tomorrow night and most of the first half of Tuesday. Rain will then exit the area by Tuesday night.

From there, high pressure gains control over a vast portion of the eastern part of the country. That will bring us nice weather, with warming temperatures. Look for a mix of sun and clouds at worst on Wednesday, then sunny days on Thursday and Friday.

As far as the extended forecast is concerned, a couple computer models indicate that we’ll stay dry from this Wednesday possibly all the way to next Tuesday. A lot will change between now and then, but the weather and temperatures look good for this weekend…for now.

I’ll start forecasts for Race Week tomorrow. If there’s ever a week where rain is better early on, this one is it!
